Water Conservation. Irrigation Ideas to Help SAVE WATER!
Adjust your Irrigation timer for Seasonal Changes once per month.Run your Irrigation during the morning hours. Often time, more cycles, and less minutes decreases water runoff and waste. Give your sprinkler system a tune-up. Check at least once a year for leaks, broken nozzles, and countless other problems, that once fixed, can save a lot of water. In Hawai’i, many landscapes are on slopes. Ensure you have check valves on the lower heads, so water remaining in the line is not wasted simply by draining out. Install a RainSensor. This will turn off automatic irrigation systems during rainfall. With most sensors, you can adjust the dryout time, as to when the irrigation will turn back on. Do research on new irrigation products. Companies are constantly coming out with products to increase water efficiency either cutting through the wind, pressure regulated, or seasonal adjustment controls. Make sure that your irrigation zones are separated correctly into Hydro-Zones. These are areas that have different microclimates. Whether sun/shade differences, or wind difference, these areas will benefit from having their own specific watering regime to decrease water waste. Water Conservation Links
