The Kauai Landscape Industry Council (KLIC) was formed in 2002 on Kauai with the following goals:
  1. Promote, encourage, and support research and education towards the improvement of landscape and nursery practices.

  2. Gather, analyze, and disseminate information relevant to the landscape community and the public.

  3. Assist governmental agencies in developing policies related to landscaping, the beautification of the Island of Kauai, and the promotion of economic development.

  4. Stimulate public interest in landscape gardening, tree planting, and horticultural practices, towards the beautification of public and private places, for the benefit of Kauai’s environment, communities, and visitors.

KLIC sponsors seminars and field trips for the betterment of Kauai’s landscape industry. KLIC has also been an active member of the Landscape Industry Council of Hawaii (LICH) since its inception. KLIC’s main achievement for 2003 was the development of a Certified Landscape Technician (CLT) program on Kauai, complete with a part-time coordinator. The first ever CLT field exam on Kauai was recently completed.

The active founding members of KLIC are: Lelan Nishek, Kauai Nursery & Landscaping; Kevin Sullivan, Aikahi Landscape Services and current Kauai CLT Program Chairman; Glen Craven, Kauai Marriott Resort and Beach Club; Maureen Murphy, National Tropical Botanical Garden (NTBG); Sylvia Smith, Lawai Foliage and Contracting; and, Liz Ronaldson, Growing Greens Nursery.

KLIC is open to all individuals and businesses directly or indirectly involved with the landscape industry, including nurseries, landscape contractors, landscape architects, gardeners, suppliers, and educators. Please feel free to contact KLIC for more information or membership application.
